Re Brand Progress - Business Cards

How I'm getting on with the business card designs, which I've already spent quite a while playing about with:

Front

This was my idea for the front of the business cards, however, I'm just not sure it looks professional. I wanted to stand out a bit but I just don't think this is the answer. I have used this photo to display on my twitter and tumblr pages, and I think it works well for those, but for a business card, which is often my first lasting impression on someone, I just don't think its suitable. I think I will just use a logo.

Back

This is definitely going to be the back for the business cards (with my real phone number on though!), but I am wondering whether or not to add my social media links (e.g. to twitter and behance)

I've put them on the CV as I do update them regularly and there will be news updates that can't be seen on the website, but I don't know if it will look professional to put them on the business cards. I'll try it and see what happens.

With social media links:

I think the 2nd layout looks best, but the arrangement of the contact details needs to be reconsidered. I've noticed a lot of people don't include these links on their business cards, but I don't know if this should stop me!

As I changed the kerning of the logo, for it to fit in to the square box used for social media, I realised that the logo I was using for this was different from the one on the back of the business cards. Here you can see the difference.

Using the other logo means that I have to re adjust some parts of the design, as I had set up everything to fit in with the guidelines.

I decided to place the social media links at the top, but wasn't sure which side.

After I've come up with the design for the back, I need to check it fits within the printing guidelines, so that none of the design is lost when it goes to print. I'll do this when I've designed the front.

New design ideas for the front:

This is the logo that I have used for the social media presence, just in a rectangle instead of a square. I might think about luxury print finishes to add to my card to get it to stand out a bit.

Here, I have reversed the design to make it a contrast to the back, to stop this card from blending in with others too much.

Final designs

Here are screenshots of my final designs, with the printing marks. The inside guides are the safe area, and the second guides are the cutting marks. The outside guides are the bleed marks.

The Griffin logo on the front has spot UV varnish on it. The cards will be printed on to 350gsm high quality stock with a matte finish. I am getting 250 printed for now to see how they go.

Photos of business cards:

Old vs. new - definitely an improvement

Double sided - white / black contrast
Matte back - easy for writing on

Spot UV varnish on logo

250 cards, 350gsm high quality stock

Very impressed!
