After my discussion with the client, we came up with a few ideas for what could be on the front of the postcards. I will draw some initial ideas up and then ask the client for their feedback before designing the neatened and completed postcard.
1. //
Drawing of girls wearing Little Beauties products. With border and logo.
2. //
Drawing of products arranged in treasure chest way. With border and logo.

These are just really quick drawings of the products that I sent to the client for her feedback. However, after a discussion with the client she decided that this hand drawn look was no longer what she was going for, as it was hard to get across the detail in the products. It is quite different from the more sophisticated look of the business cards. I agree that this is not work that I am particularly happy with, I was just doing what the client wanted me to do.
The client then said that she would likely need more work doing of a different nature in the future, such as a catalogue of products. I feel this kind of thing would be more in the way of the design practice I want to take on, rather than illustration.
I have learn a bit about dealing with clients this summer through this freelance work, but I think I really do need to do more freelance work to see how different it can be, and the problems that you can face when dealing with client. I need to know more about how to communicate with the clients in a professional but firm way, and to decide on a rate which I will charge.
Throughout the year I'm going to look for freelance opportunities, as well as collaborating with others from courses across college. Hopefully by the end of the year I'll be more confident with dealing with clients.
