| TASK |
Create a visual identity for 'Brand You' and apply it o an appropriate range of stationary and promotional material as discussed in the studio session. You should aim to create a simple but effective visual identity that communicates the essence of your creative 'image' and details about your emerging design practice. Think about how you can stand out from the rest, make yourself recognisable and communicate your professionalism as well as your creativity. You will also need to include relevant contact details. You will need to consider the practicalities of your identity which may include a logo or bespoke typeface. How readable, legible and usable is your identity? You will need to consider: - Scale: Your identity will need to work across a range of scales and formats from the the size of a projection screen to that of a letterhead. - Content: Too much and it becomes confusing, too little and it will not communicate. Too complex and it will not be practical. Too simple and it will be unrecognisable. - Colour: It will need to work in monochrome (one colour or b/w). It will be cheaper, more practical and easier to (re)produce. Think how the colour of the stock can help. - Production: The quality of the stock can say as much as your design. It can also make your design unreadable and illegible. Consider how it will be produced, by who and using what processes. |
RESPONSE
I have already starting thinking about my branding, and come up with a general theme that I am happy with and have lots of feedback for, so have made some changes.
I am thinking about adding some extra touches to my designs, such as with stickers, exciting stock choices and laser cutting, but after creating my designs I will photograph them and record them on an issue document for submission.
Here is what I have already created: Blog Re-brand / Creative CV / Business Cards
For this task, I will make sure all of the designs I originally started created are perfected, and I will also be creating:
Letterheads
Here are some examples of the steps to designing my letterhead. It was trickier than I thought to decide where stuff should go! Ideally this would be printed on to thick white paper. All designs work in greyscale, if this is how they would be needed to be printed.
Final design for letterheads, matches in with colours and layout of my creative CV and contains logo.
Invoice example
Based on an example template of an invoice I found online, I have made it to match in with the rest of my other products.
Final Invoice design:
Based on the template for the statement we used for our enterprise group business.
Final statement design:
Postcards
These would work as a series of five postcards, containing high quality photographs of my work, and would be printed at moo.com on to high quality card. (Based on the samples I received). The postcards can be given out like business cards.

Final postcards (A6, Thick card)
Thank you cards
I started working on a thank you card that could be sent out to the client after their order was complete, but then decided to give up on this as it seemed a bit unnecessary and like a waste of money. I think a thank you email would do, and if I wanted to send something, it could be a postcard or a mini card so that they could easily keep my contact details.
Mini cards
These would be printed on moo.com. They need to be: 74mm x 32mm (300dpi). Examples:
The information is the same as on the postcard, and there would be a series of 8 images, all patterns I have created from a previous project. I like the idea of different backs, some may even want to collect them all. I haven't had time/money to print these professionally at moo, but after making mock ups, I really like them, so think it is worth the investment. They are different from business cards so hopefully this makes them stand out and more memorable!
Final mini card designs:
I've printed all my work out for this task to put in my PPD folder, which I can pass round during my presentation. This is the spine for the folder (I chose the design on the right), which will also feature a business card and a sticker on the cover.
Here are examples of my mock up mini cards, and a mock up postcard in the folder. I think these have worked well so I'd like to get these professionally printed!
