Weekend Trip to London

I spent the first weekend of July in London with some friends, and had a great time finding new inspirational artists. We went to the New Designers exhibition, D&AD New Blood, Museum of Britain at the Southbank Centre and shopping on Columbia Road.

New Designers

I was amazed by the talent at the New Designers exhibition and found lots of beautiful illustrations. As this is the path I am interested in I found a lot of the work inspiring, some even relating to ideas I have had for my summer brief project.

New Blood

This was my first new blood but I'll definitely be heading back next year, hopefully one day I could be exhibiting!

Museum of Britain

At the Southbank Centre, I went to the festival of britain museum, where I found lots of vintage posters which were fascinating to look at.

Rob Ryan Shop - Columbia Road

On my trip to London I had to fit in a stop to Ryantown, Rob Ryan's little shop. I have been a fan of his for a while, especially after he came and did a talk at college. I bought this lovely tea towel as a souvenir!

Bag and postcard

For my birthday, I also received this lovely Rob Ryan book off Sophie, which he talked about when he visited.

Shops on Columbia Road

There are some beautiful little shops on Columbia road that I found while looking for the Rob Ryan shop, so I've collected some business cards to look at their websites, as the shops featured lots of nice illustrated and screen printed goods.

Leeds Museum

After looking at the vintage posters in London, I found these while looking around Leeds City Museum. Vintage style typography and posters is definitely something I want to look at more in the future, as its now very on trend.
